Per Erik Fast of Card Player, this year's tournament has the second-largest entrant field in Main Event history. World champion poker players There were an incredible 2,380 entries on Day 1b of the $777-entry Lucky 7’s event, with 100 players surviving to Day 2 of the tournament. Chip leader Stepan Vinokurov (3,315,000) leads the way from some legends of the game, with David Peters (2,775,000) his closest challenger and Alex Livingston (2,200,000) making the top five.

I’m sure Rast will be in that group. His display of poker prowess, respect of his peers, and gratitude for the game displayed this week act as a microcosm if his entire poker career. The last bastion of the pure freezeout seems to be at the World Series of Poker, especially the Main Event. Would it be a seismic shift in poker if the big one became a re-entry? And would it be a bad thing? He is also the winner of the WSOP Circuit Cherokee Main Event in 2015 for $280,260.
